Out-of-Network or Not Covered?

We offer private pay options to families out-of-network or not covered by their health insurance. If you choose to pursue out-of-network reimbursement, we are happy to provide the necessary documentation. Our goal is to find a solution that’s financially feasible, so your child can receive the support they deserve, without unnecessary barriers.

FAQs

  • Contact your insurance company directly, or reach out to our intake team at intakes@bostonblc.org or 617-658-5611. We’ll help you verify your benefits and walk you through what’s covered.

  • Out-of-pocket costs depend on your insurance plan, however, we are here to help you estimate deductibles, copays, and coinsurance before starting services.

  • Please notify BBLC as soon as you're aware of any upcoming insurance changes. You’ll need to complete our Change of Insurance form and email it to our billing department. Be sure to CC your BCBA as well. (Let us know if you need the form—we’re happy to send it to you.)

  • We recommend reaching out to the Autism Resource Center (Autism Now), at https://autismnow.org/. They’re a valuable resource for families navigating insurance, coverage questions, and financial planning for services like ABA. They can help you understand what’s covered and what to expect.

  • A DDS supplemental is a service available through the Department of Developmental Services for individuals who have MassHealth. Many children with an autism diagnosis may qualify. To find out if your child is eligible—and to get support with the application—reach out to the Autism Resource Center. Their helpful team walks families through this process every day.

  • Coverage varies by plan, but most insurance providers cover ABA services until the age of 18. For plan-specific details, please consult your benefits summary for your specific plan, or reach out to your insurance plan’s member services.
